Position Description

Primary tasks include code enforcement and answering planning and zoning inquiries from residents and developers.  The intern will also be involved in preparing staff reports for a variety of items that will go before the Planning Commission and City Council.  The internship is intended to provide a broad planning experience to individuals seeking a career in planning.

Qualifications

Applicants should be working towards a Degree in urban planning, urban studies, public administration, or landscape architecture.  The ideal candidate will have previous municipal planning and/or public administration experience. Preference will be given to applicants who are self-starters, demonstrate problem-solving abilities, and have exceptional verbal and written communication skills.

Position Details

The internship is scheduled for a term of approximately May to September 2026.  The intern would be expected to commit to a 32-40 hour per week work program Compensation will be $20.00 –$22.00 per hour (depending upon prior experience).
