Examples of Duties

As the City's Planner you will be responsible for assisting the department in the planning, coordinating, communicating, implementing, and evaluating of comprehensive planning and zoning activities.  The ideal candidate will be competent in ensuring the most effective service to the public consistent with city council policies, federal, state, and metropolitan regulations. Essential functions of the position include assisting with development and planning processes, administering code enforcement and the city's rental housing program.  The city is looking for an effective team player to collaborate on a multitude of projects by providing the planning technical expertise to bring our service to the next level! 

Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Urban Studies, Geography, or a related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible related experience.   

Typical Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree in Planning, Urban Studies, Geography, or a related field and more than three (3) years of progressively responsible related experience.
