The City of Inver Grove Heights seeks an experienced Senior Planner.  The Senior Planner performs advanced planning functions in the areas of municipal planning, including zoning, long-range comprehensive planning and land use regulations. Coordinates development and redevelopment project reviews and implementation of the community’s planning efforts and priorities as established by the City Council. The incumbent shall exercise independence and judgment, following City policies, procedures and processes in collaboration with City staff and under general supervision from Department leadership and City senior management.

Minimum Qualifications:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or closely related field of study.
•    3 years (minimum) progressively responsible experience in planning, zoning, environmental and community development programs, and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:
•    Professional experience in municipal land use planning within Minnesota, notably the Twin Cities metropolitan area, or other metropolitan service areas, including working within the structure of a comprehensive planning process under the guidance of a regional planning authority.
•    Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Architecture or other similar discipline.
•    American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) certification.
