This position will assist with Planning Commission activities and Zoning Appeals Board. The Planner provides professional expertise and assistance for a range of planning, redevelopment, economic development, and related department services and activities. As City Planner this person will help with zoning enforcement efforts.  Typical job duties include the predevelopment review process, conditional use permits, variances, zoning changes, amendments, new ordinances. Also, provide information, education, and findings to the City Council, commissions, boards, community groups, and the public. As part of the City’s comprehensive planning efforts, the Planner will compile data, maintain records, complete studies, and analyses for the development and drafting of new and revised policies and protocols. Assist with Main Street tasks as needed.  Perform other special or unique projects and planning work as assigned.


Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred, but not required) in Urban or Regional Planning, emphasizing land use planning or related field; 1 year experience in zoning and planning; experience in GIS (AICP certification is desirable, but will consider a combination or equivalent in education and experience).
